It is with great pleasure that I extend my warmest greetings to all those visiting Homepage of BK21 Center for Building Environmentally Sound and Sustainable City at the Chungbuk National University.

I would like to talk briefly about our center. The center offers specialized graduate programs in all areas of environmental and urban engineering. These programs stress research and independent study in addition to course work, and lead to the Master of Science (M.S.) or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in environmental engineering or urban engineering.

The department of environmental and urban engineering at the Chungbuk National University has currently thirteen tenured faculty and more than one hundred graduate students toward M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. Our department has been recently awarded a great financial support program from the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development of Korea. The program is called Brain Korea 21, BK21. The specific goal of our center is “Development of Environmental Technology for Building Environmentally Sound and Sustainable City” to educate urban and environmental engineers through a simulating and supportive academic environment, reinforced with meaningful graduate research cooperative work experience.

The BK21 center is actively on-going at this time to bring up specific graduate study programs that have high competitiveness. I am sure that graduate students and faculty in our center will take advantage of a truly distinctive research experience thanks to the great fund.

It’s an exciting time to be leading such an effort, and I am privileged to work with exceptional colleagues, a tremendous staff, and the most creative and hard working student. If you are looking for a challenge, give us a call.
